We recently carried out PAT Testing in Luton, this was a perfect example of why PAT testing is needed.
One of these Appliances had a fault to earth and the Earth cable had blown apart in the lead.
This is one of the checks that we do on our testing, here you can see multiple explosion marks where the faulty Appliance made contact with the Appliance that was earthed, this caused an explosion and tripped the circuit breaker and that is why we was called to this property.
Sleeping quietly underneath the worktop with a tenant taking wet clothes out of a faulty Appliance and then in close proximity putting them into an earth to tumble dryer. Really does a bear thinking about the consequences of not getting this type of thing checked on a yearly basis.
